more 'arts and crafts' time...
daddy got a plaster casting kit to document my foot size. he thought the clay impression (posted earlier) could be better. he made a mold of my foot and poured plaster mix in the mold. it turned out very nice.
this week...
for the most part was uneventful. mommy worked a couple of days, and daddy had some days off with me. i just ate and slept. i enjoyed listening to some music, and i'm beginning to smile more often. here are a few pictures...

this weekend...
mommy went back to work saturday and sunday which left me and daddy alone for the first time. we did laundry, dishes (bottles) and worked getting my room all finished. we organized some boxes and hung some pictures (all with me attached in my pouch). we had a lot of fun. i was only cranky a couple of times. this video is of me saturday during my 'tummy time'. the doctor wants me to spend a few minutes a day on my tummy because it helps make my neck strong. please excuse the sound because there is music in the background, and it recorded poorly. however that particular song does seem to soothe me. the picture is a clay impression of my foot that we did on sunday.

i am a wiggle worm...
in this video mom was trying to wake me up so i could have some lunch. everyone always tells me i am very strong and that i wiggle around a bunch. mom took this video on 9-15-08.
my many faces & emotions...
faces & recognizing mom & dad's voices.
people tell me that i could not have really been smiling at just 3 weeks old, but they are just wrong!
at about 5 weeks old, i started having colic. i am just about to "crank up" in this picture.
you can see i am fully cranked here. mom & dad were very sad for me so they held me a lot and sang songs to me.
sweet dreams...
i was only 6 days old in this picture.
aunt lorna & aunt judy gave me this swing. mom was very happy that i liked sleeping in it, especially at 2 am, which is when she took this picture.in this picture you can tell i was having sweet dreams. i was about 4 weeks old.
a very special picture, on a very special blanket...
this is me on a blanket that my great aunt Lois made for me just before she went to be with Jesus. she was very kind and loving, and i'm really sorry to have missed out on the blessing of having known her.
how i got my name...
i was named after my two grandmothers, mary bolton (bottom photo) & kathryn brandt (top photo). i am sure people will find ways to shorten my name, like calling me mary kate or mk. that's alright because mary kathryn is such a mouthful.
Here's a video of me my first day at home...
this is a very exciting video... i yawn. that's pretty much all i could do then since i was only 3 days old! it was august 9th, which is mom & dad's anniversary. they said that i was the only present they had time to get for each other!
a little bit about my arrival...
hello world! my name is Mary Kathryn. i entered the world on august 7, 2008. i weighed 7 pounds & 15 ounces, and i was 20 & 1/2 inches long. mommy was induced at 7 am and i arrived at 10:16 am! it was very exciting for my family and friends to finally find out that i am a GIRL! i slept a lot those first days in the hospital but when i was awake, i was very strong. i was already trying to hold up my head and i liked to kick my legs a lot. when i cried, many people say that i sounded like a goat. i will always remember watching the opening ceremonies for the beijing olympics on my second night at the hospital!
