Mary Kathryn's Spring Piano Recital!

Mary Kathryn had her spring piano recital on May 21.
She played "Yankee Doodle."
She had a few butterflies in her tummy,
but she overcame her anxieties
and played beautifully!

MK worked really hard on the steps of
playing a piano piece in public.

Here are the steps she followed:
Walk calmly up to the piano.
Bow to the audience.
Enter the bench from the side.
Play "Yankee Doodle."
Gracefully place hands in lap.
Stand up & bow to the audience again.
Return to a seat.

When "gracefully" placing her hands in her lap, MK likes to make 'sparkle fingers.'  These pictures show her demonstration of sparkle fingers.

oops! i forgot to wrap up the school year!

Joey & I joined MK for lunch on her
second-to-last day of school.
But I have forgotten to post the
pictures until just now!

It was "Super-Hero Dress-Up" Day, in
honor of fellow-student John Henry.
He is a hero because he has Type-I Diabetes.

And of course we thanked Mrs. Holmes & Mrs. Tucker for all their hard work!!  (Ms. Viann was out for the day, but of course we love her too!)

This has been a great school year & we are quite thankful for the wonderful teachers & staff at MK's school.

come on summer!

Thursday was the last day of school for MK.
Yesterday she stayed with my parents while Joey &
I were at work.  So they went ahead & set up
the pool!  MK *loves* the pool, even though
the temperatures are only in the mid-80s.
MK begged to go back again today, even though I was
off work.  The sky was slightly cloudy, and she
was shivering!  But stayed in the water
(definitely by choice!)
about two hours!

LWW...

This is my Aslan picture. I made this with my friends Sarah and Destiny. It tells all about him. Aslan is a heroic lion. He's brave and nice. He's
the BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He's a character from The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. I got that at my school, MLES.
It's my favorite book from the Chronicles of Narnia. I enjoyed it a LOT.
My favorite scene is when Lucy sees Mr Tumnus. .Aslan is like Jesus. The White Witch sheared off his mane and he took the girls Susan and Lucy for a ride on him.

A crazy, happy weekend...

We had no official schedule this weekend, but we still managed to stay pretty busy!  Joey had done most of the chores before he went to work on Saturday morning :o) so MK and I were able to focus on relaxing!
We started out with some play-doh
& then some scooter-time.
The weather was AMAZING.
We did have to do a bit of shopping.  MK loves looking at all the products in the children's hair care section.  She thinks it's funny that there are animals that look like fruit on the bottles.  (Strawberry-scented shampoo with a
strawberry-jellyfish on the label!)
And she always like to walk through the toy department.  "We are only looking!"
Then we made a pit-stop at my parents' house for lunch.  Grammy surprised MK with these LaLaLooopsy sets that she has been watching on You-Tube for quite a while.  Her faves are Mango Tiki Wiki & Scoops Waffle Cone.
We also had to stop in Costco.  MK helped me to unload all the groceries.  We are beginning to ask her to take on more responsibilities and help with things like this.
Once we were settled at home, we enjoyed a backyard picnic & read a few books we'd checked
out from the library earlier this week.

And all of that was just Saturday!
We went to church on Sunday & helped
make a couple of blankets after church.
(Here are some of our friends working on a blanket.)
These are lap blankets for folks in nursing homes.

We came home to relax some more.
MK got to play outside again & we also did some artwork & piano.  She definitely passed out easily
when it was bedtime tonight!!!

Mommy's Field Day Post...

MK has already made her own post about yesterday's field day, but there were so many good pictures... I wanted to make a post as well!

Obviously, this year's theme was "pirates."  The games & decorations were all centered on this theme.

Mary Kathryn has been talking about this "swab the deck" game for a couple of weeks.  They have been practicing these games during P.E. time.  "SWAB" IS a pretty strange word -- some words just sound funny to say over & over & over.  They used a mop to push a ball down the field.
MK has fond memories of all her field day events so far.  We reminisce about them often (they've had a luau theme & also an all-star-sports theme.)  I'm sure the love for Pirate Field Day" will be no different!

The Day of Field...

yesterday, i had a field day,
and it was super duper awesome!!!
we played tug of war
.
we even let my teachers do the tugging!!!!!!!!!
my favorite blow-up slide (just like from the year before) i did not try it. but now i did...and this WAS the perfect life for becca(a duck from field day friends)! i even played my favorite game: swab the deck! it's something to do with a new PE game we were doing. We used mops somehow. we are hearing swab...Swab...SWAB a lot. this game is called crocodile infested water. you walk on carpet squares without walking on the field.you can see us waiting at our cones. the next game is called the cannonball run. i do have one of these blue bouncy balls, so we could try that game at home. we rolled the balls around the cones.whoa! look at that cannonball go! the hula hoop race isn't my favorite game. THREE kids get in the hoop, and I DON'T LIKE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so i danced instead of playing the hoop race. and this song...i played it on recording right now...it's so cool!!! my lifesaver ducks, paw patrol pups and my lalaloopsy tinies and my other ducks becca and 3fea. one of these games is the hopping race. you hop around the cone on one leg. there are lots of relay races on field day.behind me is the game of skills, beam, and the steps with the pilo polo sticks. we stand on the steps and use the sticks to "push" each other off the steps. ms holmes was the winner for the last one.
