sailing saturday...

daddy, mommy & i went sailing on lay lake this morning. we even ate a picnic lunch on the boat. i enjoyed helping daddy to tie the ropes. the red ropes were my favorites. i also got to see several of these large crane-birds. they always flew away when we'd get closer. and i used my notepad to keep a log of today's events. at first i was apprehensive about wearing the life jacket. but i eventually understood that i MUST wear it if i wanted to go sailing. and i ReALLy wanted to sail! it was a great way to spend this beautiful fall day. pictured below are my entries in my captain's log. mommy drew the stick figures in the first picture, but i drew every thing else. and sorry - you'll need to turn your head to see the second picture well. after sailing, we went home to clean up. then we ate chik-fil-a dinner & had ice cream at the mall! YuM! my goofy poses are modeled after a girl pictured on my chik-fil-a milk bottle. she was so cute with her hands under her chin like this. after the mall, we went to toys R us. according to me, this place is "full of R's and stars!!" and they have some pretty neat toys! i was SO tired, i could not decide a purchase. so we just browsed and meandered about the store. i love looking at toys! WOW! what a day! we came home & i jumped in my pajamas & fell right to sleep!

playing catch-up...

sorry it has been so long since my last post. mommy was having camera troubles, but that has been resolved. the first picture is of me at a recent school event. i did the bean bag toss -- and i was quite the little champion! i am improving on my use of straws. that could be because mommy got rid of the bottles. the soft spouts were tearing and it was just time to move on! you can see that i like to have a little fun with my beverages. the next picture is of me putting away clean dish towels. i am a good helper! these final pictures are from sunday morning. we actually got ready for church a little early so we had time to snap a few shots. mommy just recently completed this new outfit that i am wearing. and don't you LOVE these glasses!!

the end of a big week...

well, it's the end of my first week of kindergarten! i made it! these are some pictures of my afternoon playtime. i enjoyed playing "school" with my olivia-the-pig characters. i also played outside some days. i drew lots of school-chalk pictures. i even rode my bike around our driveway a few times. mommy was wearing flip-flops when she was helping me. she says i am too fast -- she'll only wear tennis shoes from now on! the last picture is of me practicing my hand-raising skills. and there's no picture for this, but.... daddy said we could do anything i wanted when he picked me up from school on friday afternoon. i told him i wanted to have monkeys come through the house, juggling some fruit. i thought it was a great idea...

my first day of kindergarten...

kindergarten has officially begun! check out my big-girl backpack! my teacher told us that "kiddie" bags would be too small. we'll see how far i actually carry this one! here i am putting away my lunch box. then i sat at the table & did play-doh with new friends. you can see me waiting patiently in the carpool line. i said i did not enjoy school. but when i came home, the first thing i did was to draw pictures of my teachers. then i played school with my new bus & olivia characters. since arriving home, i have also been reciting rules of the classroom & talking about hallway behavior. i call this day a SuCCeSS!!!

hodge podge of play...

here are some random playtimes from the past week. i received gift cards & money from a few people for my birthday, so i was excited to get to choose my own gift! i chose this play-doh cake making set. they look delicious, right? lately, i have been reading a kai-lan book about having a sleep-over. so i let my shaggy dolphin & magic unicorn have a sleep-over in our kitchen. i even read a bedtime story to them. this afternoon we did chalk colors. we drew a a bowling alley (we actually went bowling this morning!) & we also drew kai-lan's house. mommy encouraged me to ride my "car" from the bowling alley to the house to go to the sleep-over. and yes, yes... i know i am not wearing my helmet. but we are still warming up to the bike & i only rode about 20 feet. in the driveway. where it is FLAT. more progress to come soon...

happy birthday to me!!!

my 5th birthday celebration was last sunday! many of my family & friends came to share in my exciting & special day. the party was dolphin-themed. but it was a challenge to find enough things to decorate entirely with dolphins. mommy made some flags & a table covering from some dolphin fabric. we also used various sea creatures in the decorations. at first, i just requested a dolphin cake. then i wanted a dolphin-riding-a-train cake. then i changed my mind & asked for a dolphin-going-grocery-shopping cake. my daddy made this grocery buggy from cardstock & we used one of my toy dolphins to go grocery shopping. mommy asked me, "what do dolphins shop for? fish in the ocean?" i responded (very matter-of factly): "no, they shop for GRoCerieS in wal-mart!" so that is what this dolphin is doing... my big gift from mommy & daddy was this hello-kitty bike! i am interested in the bike, but not exactly EXCITED to ride it. however, i DO enjoy my fishy helmet. this is the same helmet i wore when we went skiing. that afternoon, several of us rode/walked to the lake to feed fish. i rode the bike by MySeLF for about 30 seconds -- pushing the pedals & and steering all on my own. i grew tired, but for a first time, i think i did pretty well. what a GReaT day!!!
